Glycine

Glycine is an amino acid, a building block for protein. It is not considered an “essential amino acid” because the body can make it from other chemicals.

Introduction

Glycine is the constituent amino acid of the endogenous antioxidant reduced glutathione, and it is often supplemented by exogenous sources when the body is under severe stress. It is also sometimes called a semi-essential amino acid.

Functions and Applications

Glycine powder is most commonly taken as a supplement alongside creatine to help support the muscles.
